    Default 1920s 30s hair,help!

I am going to have a dramatic haircut but first I would really appreciate some advice!

I have bust length hair which I wear 40s style everyday in curls and rolls etc but I want a 20s/30s bob which I can fingerwave and put small curls into.

What length should my hair be cut to firstly, because sometimes I will need to wear it straight (at work) and I need it to look good then as well. Should I have it graduated so its longer at the front, like Louise Brooks?

Does anyone know how to create fingerwaves,I have never done these before!

Has anyone had this style themselves,I would love to hear from you, thankyou everyone.xxxxx

About the most famous fingerwave bobbed haircut is that of Roxy in Chicago.
Here's a good tip, but it does come with a cost.
I too have long hair and had one of those moods where I felt like having it all chopped off. But hubby has grown wise to my mood swings, and he treated me to a wig in the style that I intended to have done.
It looked great at first, but the novelty soon waned, and I felt relieved that I still had my tresses. so if you can afford it, do the same, get yourself a twenties, fingerwave wig, I can find a few links if it helps, and then when you see how it looks, it will help you to decide if you really want such a dramatic cut.

Seconded! I saw a beautiful platinum blonde Jean Harlow fingerwaved wig on eBay - I only didn't buy it because I couldn't justify the cost ...

I would also love to see someone sport some Alice White hair!!! Her bob was super-cute 'n curled adorably. Or like Marion Davies, Mae West, Anna May Wong... just Google your heart out, hunny, and have fun with all the style possibilities.

As someone who now has bust-length hair after having short bobbed hair for 10+ years straight, I gotta say; short hair has its perks. Nice & cool & easy for the summer. And you can have lots of fun growing it out!!! However, it IS a commitment; it isn't like you can really tie it up when you don't have time to style it right, y'know? Hehe.

You can go as short as you want, from buzzed up the nape and angled down in the front to the mid-jaw or chin (like I did). Or you could do a much longer, or non-angled version.

Luckily for you, such a cut is EXTREMELY trendy right now ---it'll be an instant hit, especially with your 'flapper'-esque twist on it!!! It should be adorable, please let us know what you decide and LET US SEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! *has a bobbed hair fetish*

Yikes! Fingerwaves are hard, unless you like your arms getting numb from holding it up for so long! I've cheated by using the small hot rollers that come in the hot roller set. After taking out the rollers (remember, unroll them slowly, don't pull on them), I spray a bit of hairspray on a fine tooth comb and carefully comb out the curls but make sure to tame the wave like a finger wave. Duckbill clips may also help hold down the wave until your hair dries.
