Fair price for pasties?
Hi,
I've decided to take the plunge and start selling pasties which I make.
I would beable to make them in all sorts of patterns and colours, rhinestones etc.
They would be round pasties.
What sort of price would you call reasonable?

Here is a set of black rhinestone ones, modelled by me.

wow, they're beautiful

Well Ann Summers sparkly ones are £10 so I reckon around that mark is fair. If I was buying a custom pair I'd probably pay more but it depends how much detail's going into it.Nouveau Showgirl

Thanks.
I'm thinking of doing like polka dot, leopard print with rhinestone edge and tassel if wanted
Plus full rhinestone in whatever colour you want.
I'm in the process of setting up a myspace page devoted to pasties.
I'm going to be a busy bee this weekend making lots of pasties.xx

I would just like to point out that while the ann summers ones may be £10 they are majourly mass produced so costs can be kept low....they are also not the best quality as many people I know who have bought them have had problems with the stones falling off.
Make sure you are able to cover your costs and factor in your time when thinking about how much to charge...researching how much other people charge for their pasties is also a good idea:
TwistedStarz
Doghead
Adorabella
etc.
Hope this helps

For basic round pasties I would expect to pay (and have paid) anywhere between £5-£15, depending on the quality and detail. Materials also matter - I expect to pay more for rhinestones than for sequins, more for sequins that plain fabric, etc. etc. If I was buying a custom pair which involved a lot of time, effort and fine detail (which I have), I'd expect to pay more.
One way of working it out is to add up the cost of all the materials and components, and then a rough cost for the labour you put into making them (so if they took you ten minutes, the quality may reflect that and they should be cheaper, but if you took your time to make sure the quality was better, you could expect to charge more) and work out a price based on that.

Thats what I was thinking. I'll be making basic round pasties from various materials, I do take a lot of time and care into making mine, especially bejewelling them that takes ages.
I'm looking at charging around £10 for fabric with a rhinestone edge extra if wanting tassels and around say £15ish for rhinestone pasties (at this price they would be regular rhinestones) For swarovski pasties the price would be more.
What these prices sound like?

Of course you can.
When I've got the myspace up and running with pics up I will post on here.
Thanks for all the advise.

One thing I advise - OFFER DIFFERENT SIZES! Some of us need bigger pasties than others, and sometimes 'one size' just doesn't cut it - either too small to cover anything, or too big so they cover everything!
