Winter wear - vintage style
As summer is drawing to a close i am trying to get a few winter odds and ends into my closet for when the weather turns.
In the past i used to just buy stuff and say blow it if it didn't go well with what i already had (foolish!) but this year i wanted to get a few warmer bits that would go with what i already have. I have lots of pencil/wiggle skirts and quite a few gypsy/off the shoulder tops which are fine for summer but what would go with these for a cosy winter top? Somehow borrowing my boyfriend's hoodies just wouldn't look right!

I much prefer dressing for Autumn / Winter as summer is (usually!!) not good for four inch heels and stockings. swollen feet and chaffing thighs, hmmmmm.
Anyway with a pencil skirt, for daytime, I usually wear a nice, close fitting V neck jumper ( navy and beige go with everything) with a pretty scarf or a long sleeve blouse / shirt.
Also, I love wide leg, high waist trousers or capri pants when it's really wet ( I've got very short legs and they suffer in puddles!)
I really struggle to look groomed and together in the summer time as I look ridiculous in all the floaty boho stuff and shorts are never going to happen!
Enjoy your shopping spree!

Dressing for autumn is my favourite season for clothes. A wiggle skirt with a lovely cinched jacket is a great look, A really good shirt that's well ironed seems to works wonders too. Then you have the range of coats to pick from.
Although with the weather like it is, you might be able to get away with your summer style a bit longer

I have to say I love Autumn season as well as its when all the prints come out - houndstooth, tartan, tweeds - all the things I love!
River Island actually has some lovely pieces at the moment including thicker pencil skirts, warmer high waisted trousers, slinky jumpers etc.

I agree that winter is so much easier to dress for!
Last christmas I was in a calf length off white fitted wool coat, a fluffy russian style hat that looked like silver fox and long dark ruby red ruched leather gloves.
Can't wait for this year as my new job means I can wear my own clothes! I love seamed stockings or tights with a fitted pencil skirt, quite taken with the high necked pussy bow blouses (although they don't work so well with a huge bust so I wear a waistcoat over it), wool trousers and a pretty cardigan and silky shirt underneath. Ditto 'V' neck jumpers, a nice shirt or a lacy collar underneath with a skirt or trousers.
Plus you dont look as daft wearing a hat or fancy scarf in the winter! You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

oh, I'm all excited about unpacking my winter wardrobe now!
I just moved in with my bloke and had to seriously reduce the amount of clothes I have access to. The rest are in a case in the loft and I can't wait to liberate everything and pack away all these silly vests and linen trousers. The one downside to Autumn and Winter dressing is the gamble you take when wearing satin shoes. Hmmmmm, maybe I should get some of those little plastic shower cap things that surgeons wear over their shoes. Then they'd be protected but you'd still see them!
I'll be wearing last years winter coat but with an array of different coloured, huge corsages. People always comment when you wear a flower. I think most people wish they were brave enough to wear one, too.
Let's all wear flowers this year!!!!
