    Default Natural moisturiser

where's the best place to get some? No nasty chemicals or anything. I'm trying to switch over all my products to natural stuff after that tv programme scared me.

I love Lush's moisturisers, especially Gorgeous when I can afford it. There's nothing nasty in them and they smell like heaven.

And Lush's stuff doesn't have animal products in it either, So they're pretty good whatever your ethical stance. What puts me off about them is the smell as you pass the shop - it's just too strong for my sensitive nose!

I agree Lush is good or there are the Green People's stuff which is rather nice.

If you have an organic store (i.e. Fresh & Wild or As Nature Intended)near you they should have a good selection of different brands and hopefully some good advice from staff members. But Lush is usually easier to find as they have branches everywhere.

The only other option is to make your own, which is fun but messy and they don't have the shelf life of shop brought stuff.

Lush indeed! I use their Ultralight during the day, and Skin Drink at night.

Burts Bees carrot face cream is supposed to be really good too.

The problem is that even companies such as Lush who like to market them selves as being lovely and natural are really not. All large skin care companies on the high street put lots of preservatives in their products...if you think about it a tub of cream might sit in a warehouse shelf for months, then a shop shelf and then your bathroom...so it has to have a sell by date of several years from when it was made. Preservatives are not good for your skin!

Most creams (including those from lush) also contain artificial colours which are nasty and a whole range of other nasty stuff.

I would highly recommend making your own creams which are a lot easier to make then you think. I make mine with good quality oils, deonized water, bees wax and essential oils. The tricky bit is emulsifying the water in the oils but all in all its very easy and you can get all the ingredients online. I make small amounts every other month or so as they wont last longer than that.

If you live in the London area I am going to do a series of 'make your own beauty product christmas presents' in December including making creams, lip balms and bath boms.

    Hope the above helps.

First and foremost, I swear by honey!! It's the only thing I use to wash my face. I use olive oil on a cotton ball to remove my eye makeup, and then I smear honey all over my face, sometimes leaving it on for five minutes as a mask, and then rinse with cool water. Then I use an all natural honey toner, and a moisturizer I make myself.

I've used just about everything. My face was never horrible, but I always had blemishes somewhere. I've even used Proactive, which just dried my face to dust and gave me wrinkles!! Honey has loads of vitamins and minerals in it, and it has a very high potassium content, which makes it almost impossible for bacteria to grow in it. It's also one of the best known humectants (moisture-holding material), which makes it great for chapped skin. If you have oily skin, add a bit of lemon juice to it, if you're skin is dry, add a bit of milk.

I always keep honey in a liquid soap dispenser in my bathroom. You can also use it as a mask on your hair, I promise it doesn't leave any sticky residue. It does have a mild bleaching effect, though, so be careful if your hair is dark.

Here are some great recipes for a natural toner and moisturizer that you can make yourself, and be CERTAIN of what's in it!

    Honey Toner
    1 tablespoon honey
    1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon rosewater (you can get it at a liqour store)
2 tablespoons vodka or witch hazel

Mix all ingredients together and pour into a clean bottle with a lid. Apply using a clean cotton ball. The toner may feel slightly sticky at firs. This tends to disappear the longer the solution sits (for about 5 days) You may want to rinse your face with cool water the first week of use. It makes about 2 ounces.

    Corn Flour Lotion
    2 tablespoons glycerine
2 tablespoons corn flour (corn starch)
    1/2 cup distilled water
    2 tablespoons rose water

This is a light, nongreasy lotion combining the old-fashioned formula of rose water and glycerine with corn flour. It's perfect for soothing dry, chapped hands, face, and body.

Mix together all ingredients in an ovenproof glass bowl. Heat until just boiling and thick, 1 to 2 minutes in the microwave on High (stirring every 30 seconds), or on the stove in a water bath (putting the bowl in a larger pan of water). The lotion will be clear and jellylike; stir throughly and cool completely. When the lotion is cool, pour into a clean, airtight container. Massage into face, hands, or body.

If it becomes too thick, just stir in water, one tablespoon at a time.

If you take a look at the ingredients on the Lush website, you will find that the vast majority of their products do not contain preservatives, or very few. Their shelf life is a lot shorter than most products as a result, hence why they state the "made on" and "use-by" dats on each of the packaged products.

The skincare does not contain artificial colours.

But their products are all bright colours!!!! There's no way they are all natural. You just need to walk 10 meters away from Lush to smell all the artificial perfume.
