I don't know if this will help to anyone looking for costumes - Mufti Costumes in Nottingham are having a big closing down sale. I have it in my head that Emerald Ace had her octopus costume made by them - but I might be wrong. I just got this email from them, tell them Aunty Tempest sent you:


Hi All,

we're really sad to announce that Mufti Costumes will be opening for its last day on Sat 14th March. our closing down sale is now on.

we are selling rather than hiring all of our stock. our basement stockroom is open for browsing and there's a real mix of stuff: silly fancy dress, wigs, good quality theatre costumes and loads of great vintage items including dresses, men's and women's coats, hats, gloves, men's and women's jackets, suits, shirts, trousers, shoes, handbags and more.

so if there's anything you've ever hired from us that you'd like to keep forever, now's your chance! just ask where things are when you pop in, as it's spread over 2 floors.

if you've any questions about particular items, please email or phone. our new opening hours are 10am-6pm Tues-Fri and 10am-5.30pm Sat.

we've enjoyed working with you all over the years, thanks for using Mufti.

Yep! Mickey from Mufti made my octopus but I have it on good authority that she will still be making custom costumes for burlesquers on reuqest.

I just went in this avo after work and I have got a vital part of the costume for my lastest act-in-progress... if you are in the area it is well worth a look in... they have more good stuff than you can shake a stick at!
