Bustle Cages
Hey there girlies, i'm wondering if anyone can help me here...
I'm looking for some bustle cages, but not the traditional victorian ones that go all the way down to the floor, i mean the small lobster type cages that sit on either side of the hip.
Can anyone help with any ideas of where to get these, or event the correct name for this type of bustle? I can't seem to find them anywhere xWARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Crinoline = Floor length hooped skirt (High Victorian)
Bustle = Horse-hair pad that goes on the bum (Late Victorian)
Hip-rolls = Bustle pads that sit on each hip (Elizabethan)
Panniers/pocket hoops = Two long irregular size boned petticoats that sit on each hip (18th century)
What you're describing sounds like an 18th century/Victorian hybrid?

Bustle cages
Check out Welcome to the Vena Cava Design Corset and Costume Component Site - Vena Cava Design
Not only do they do the patterns, but also all the boning and componants - including back or white cotton 'tubing' to make cages with.
And they deliver really quickly too.

Sometimes people just had a couple of little cushions tied arround their waist, 2 at each side. Corsets and crinolines should get you on your way as well as fartingales
