    Question Lipliner advice pretty please!!!!!

Hey all, I have NEVER bothered wearing lipliner with lipstick but think I should do. Just wondered if it's best to match your lipliner to your lipstick colour OR use a neutral lipliner?????? Am confused!!!!!!!!

I don't tend to use it myself. It's more trouble than it's worth! I always end up spending ages trying to get it even, and then when I fill it in with lipstick it just looks a bit overdone and clownish!

I think though, if you're going to use it, it's best to use one that matches if it's a bright colour like red. I've used neutral and it wasn't great - it just didn't seem to do any good. I've also been known to do the lipliner after the lipstick, just to tidy up, because you can see the outer line and whether it's even much more clearly when your lippy's already on. Plus you don't get the clown problem of lining your lips bigger than they are! But that's just my preference and my be a bit odd ...

Hmm... I used to wear a natural lipliner, but felt that it was a bit pointless! I wear a lipliner the same colour as my lipstick, but draw a soft, feathery line using short strokes, and fill it in slightly over my lips, so that if the lipstick wears off I'm not just left with a harsh line... Hope that helps!x x x

I always use a lipliner in the same colour as my lips, then apply my lipstick with a brush, first covering the line and then filling in the middle. That way if the lipstick wears off you're not left with a noticable line of bright liner round the edges! Plus its so much cheaper only having to have one liner! xxx

I always use either a lip-liner of the same colour or slightly darker for reds (my favourite being MAC cherry or brick liner with MAC russian red lipstick), a darker pink or even purple for a bright, plastic-y pink and a neutral for a more natural pink. As Popi said, colour in a good portion of your lips after pencilling your outline (especially your corners) before applying your lipstick. I've found with a good quality lip-liner, I don't ever have to apply lipcote.

I use a lip liner that matches my lipstick. I draw on the edges, not over them, and then colour my lips in with the liner. Then I put the lipstick on with a brush (well, most of the time I do), blot, lipstick, blot, powder, brush off, lipstick and done! It tends to stay on all night then.

My problem is that I don't have a very defined line on my top lip (hope you know what
I mean) and so when I use lip-liner it looks really unnatural and odd. Although that could just be because I'm not used to it I suppose.

I agree with Vie , you simply cant get a 1940s pout without liner as well, this is the way i do it. Line with a sharp point in Cherry lipliner from MAC,then shade in lips with liner, then I use russian red, then cover with powder, then reapply liner and lipstick.

If you dont have a very defined top lip/cupids bow then draw one honey!!
Do the same thing as above, but when your re applying the liner draw some points,or higher and rounder,we all over draw our lips slightly to get that perfect pout, theres nothing wrong with emphasizing the cupids bow!! just dont go ott ,lol.

I have a really oddly shaped top lip (a bit like a castle turret) so I always use lip liner to create a cupid's bow.

I use a red to match the shade of the lipstick.
