Thread: Tips for selling on ebay

Hi everyone,

I'm going to sell some clothes on ebay and was wondering if anyone had any tips for selling.

For example what words are good to use in your description? Would anyone who already has an established sellers' account be willing to let me sell my clothes on there for a favour in return?

Hi Clio!
A few tips-
1) never use a photo of something on a hanger- no-one can picture what shape it will be! use a mannequin and get nice bright photos so no-one can use the "not as pictured" blag to get a refund if they decide they dont like it.
2) be honest about any faults with the items- people prefer it if youre upfront, and its really gutting when youve bought something as new, when the zips half out.
3) keywords- think what words you search for when looking for similar items- is it a pin-up style? is it 50's? is it a bit Bettie page? use something about the colour and the style of the item, eg, halterneck dress, 3/4 length trousers. If in doubt, enter the keywords youre going to use and see if similar items to yours come up!
4) If its relelvant put detailed info on sizing in the description, it will save you answering questions at the last minute and will help buyers see if it will fit them, for instance, the bust of the dress is about 35".
5) Make sure you put something in there about checking the rest of your items!! Not everyone will assume you would have more marvelous things they might like to bid on!
6) put a few on MOB- they dont take a fee like ebay do, and I expect we'd all like a chance to grope pretty clothes for bargain prices!
