Hello ladies and gents!

Our 30th May meeting will have the following line up and we do hope that you can make it.

Please note the time change of 2pm - 6pm due to double booking at the venue (argh!)

Please also be aware that there will be super fun birthday celebrations, as it's my 30th so there'll be cake (hurrah!) and boozez and I do hope you'll give me the bumps (wahey!)

Plus it's a BANK HOLIDAY so no excuses of work the next day

Glorian Gray - The History of Burlesque

Find out what burlesque used to be about, who were it's stars and what were their secrets, where did it come from, how was striptease invented, find out ways burlesque has contributed to modern life, and how and why did it die?

Having researched burlesque and striptease quite deeply, first out of interest and then for my PhD, I have found it invaluable to really understand what burlesque was and where it came from- it has helped me realise where the modern acts we see come from, and it can really inform your acts and give you good ideas, as well as helping you realise why you are doing what you are doing.

A bit about Glorian:

One of the north's favourite modern burlesque performers, Glorian offers a unique brand of burlesque and a varied range of acts, each giving the audience a different experience of burlesque performance and of Glorian herself.

Performing since 2007, Glorian performed for two years as "Autumn Glory", bursting onto the burlesque scene with her debut at Manchester's premier burlesque event, The Slippery Belle. Within a short time, she had performed at some of the UK's most prestigious events and venues, from the Edinburgh Fringe, to London's esteemed "Volupte".

A continuedregular performer at many of the UK's favourite burlesque shows, Glorian has also dazzled audiences across the pond in foreign lands, and enjoys being a pin-up model for a variety of photographers, and being one of Donovan's Darlings, modelling for esteemed US photographer Kate Donovan.

Glorian's great love for burlesque, vaudeville, variety, circus and vintage performance always ensures a varied and tantalising show!

I was sorry to miss this - when is the next? Is Glorian talking anywhere else?

Hi,

The next meeting is Sunday, 27th June at 4pm. Due to the venue flooding and last event being cancelled as a result, Glorian will now be doing her talk this month instead.
