Hi guys,
As I think y'all know, I lived in New Orleans for a time and have close ties to the city. I have been been following the oil leak reports in the press and am shocked and saddened by the devastation that is continuing to spread as the oil continues to flow and wash up on the shore. In response I have created an event to benefit The Audubon Nature Institute who are first responders to reports of animals in distress due to the oil. So, here we go! Burlesque Against BP. I really hope those of you in the South West can make it and that those of you who can't might consider a donation to the Audubon Nature Institute:

Oil has been pouring in to the Gulf of Mexico for 40+ days so the BURLESQUE SOUTHWEST COLLECTIVE is taking a stand. We are hosting an afternoon of tea, cake and Burlesque Booty!

For your delectation, standing in solidarity with our Burlesque Sisters in the Dirty South, we present:

We'll have some bump n grind, rock n roll beats for you to enjoy as well as an excellent raffle with all kinds beautiful prizes.Tickets are £6 and ALL proceeds will go the The Audubon Nature Institute. This sounds like a great event your organising, so sorry I wont be able to make it, its the same weekend Im performing at Glastonbury.

The best of luck for it though, Im sure it will be absolutely wonderful!

This is super-important peeps, so please come along and support this event if you can - us South West girls are all chipping in what we can to support Tuesday and her passionate plight for those poor animals caught up in one tragic human error.

It's an afternoon tease so no need to organise overnight accommodation!

I for one am donating a double pass to Coco Boudoir for August and i hear there are loads of other prizes of all kinds to be won as well.

Shouldn't it actually be burlesque against Transocean Ltd. who actually own and opperate the rig in question which BP leases?

Maybe, but I like alliteration What I care about is that 11 men are dead, crude oil is STILL pumping in to the ocean, birds and sea life are washing up dead on the shore en masse, fisherman have lost their livelihoods, the dispersants being used are not only highly toxic, but the bacteria in them eats oil and oxygen out of the water possibly creating a dead zone and the precious wetlands, swamps and bayous, natural protection against tropical storms, are being further erroded and it's hurricane season.

ALL proceeds to the Audubon Nature Institute who clean and rehabilitate wildlife affected by the Deep Horizon Oil Leak. Oil is starting the wash up further down the coast, Pensacola, Navarre, Destin, so your donations are needed more than ever.

Shake it for the Gulf!

Just as a point of info for those of you with pension plans hitting BP is hitting yourselves, as BP shares often occupy a significant part of many plans.

That said I'm all in favour of peoiple helping out the wildlife thats been harmed by this disaster

I'm glad that you are in favour of people helping out the wildlife but I wouldn't hold too much concern for your pension. Unlike the fishermen, restaurants and other gulf based businesses effected by this oil leak. A pension will do very little good if there is no where livable to spend it.
