Thread: Local Burlesque Societies and Meetings

Since the original burlesque society, North West Burlesque, was established last year out of the embers of the Sugar Fix Burlesque Social, there have been a few more similar events set up around the country, which is great!

Meetings and societies are a great place to meet people and have a laugh. They also do a lot to foster a sense of community among local burlesque and related performers, promoters and people involved in the industry, and often offer performance slots where artists can practice and display works in progress.

North West Burlesque also has experienced guest speakers visiting to talk on a number of useful topics, such as how to apply for a gig, good practice and safety when modelling, costuming, insurance and various aspects of the industry. We also have performer Q & A sessions and discussion groups.

I thought I would start this as a list of active societies, so people know if there is one in their area. Please add any that I have missed!

I'm all for community movements & collabs, the regions get stale and bitchy otherwise!

Wow, I didn't know there were so many, thanks Glorian! Maybe we should get our collective asses in gear up here in Scotland!
