Hi all! My name's Wrong Note Rusty and I'm part of BoylesqueTO, Canada's Premier All-Male Burlesque Troupe.

For a little while now I've been planning a trip to England and it seems like the timing might be right for late April/early May. (Unfortunately I missed the boat on the London Burlesque Festival!) I've been looking around on here and contacting some folk who've been really friendly and helpful, and now I'm wondering if anyone has any general tips for getting around or finding potential bookings? Venues, producers, troupes I should look up?

I'm keeping my expectations in check in that I haven't built up a reputation in the UK and I know it'll be hard to discuss and confirm bookings from over here in Canada so far in advance. So hopefully without shooting myself in the foot, I'm thinking of asking for 50 pounds a gig. Does that sound realistic? I'm hoping to book maybe 4 or 5 shows over a 10 or 11 day tour (spanning two weekends).

I have some friends I can stay with in London, and possibly Manchester and Brighton. I'm definitely open to and excited about taking trains to get around and making new friends especially with couches that I can crash on! In fact, I'm no stranger to couchsurfing.org and I have a profile on there as well for anyone who happens to be vacationing or touring here in Toronto! http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/toronto_greg/

What do y'all think? Am I crazy? Comments/suggestions/slaps in the face?
