Thread: Bump 'N Grindhouse (Cambridge) - Announcements

A few announcements re: our night, Bump 'N Grindhouse on Sat 18th October.

Just like buses - nothing for ages and then they all come at once... after 2 and half years of absence, Salon Rouge have reappeared at The Junction in Cambridge (which is the city's 2nd biggest venue) with monthly burlesque nights.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, starting in September. Which of course means that their second one will be on the same night as ours. :worried:

So far all attempts to contact the organisers and The Junction re: this have met with silence, so it would appear that they are doing their usual thing of 'We're the biggest so we don't need to worry about anyone else'.

We are going ahead with ours anyway, (as it appears to be the only way I will ever get to DJ a burlesque event!) and go with a different angle to The Junction's offering when we find out what that is. Probably we will go with alternative / rock / crossover burlesque, as theirs appears to be trad / cabaret based.

Also, Misty Venus has had to withdraw from the evening due to bridesmaid duties! Negotations are ongoing for her replacement, we will have someone to announce in due course.

Finally, I have been informed that there is to be another Bump 'N Grindhouse - this will be in November in Cheltenham; nothing to do with us, but they have found us and had the courtesy to tell us about it. So while we are happy to co-exist, we wish to make it known that we are not associated in any way with an event called Bump 'N Grindhouse in Cheltenham (or they with us).

I dont know if this wld be of any use to you but I happen to know(assuming that perhaps you don't) that the Salon Rouge will be on the 20th September. I want to go to both, let's hope i can- looks like fun!

You will not be able to go to both as their second night is on the same night as ours (Sat 18th Oct) unless you can be in two places at once!

It would appear that we are definitely going ahead with Sat 18th though, and negotiations are to commence with the venue next week with dates and prices for two more nights after that (which of course will not be on the same night as Salon Rouge!)

Anyhow, on a brighter note - we now have a fledgeling MySpace page, to be made into a proper one in due course when we figure the damn thing out...

And finally - we will be offering £1 discount to MoB members for advance tickets - meaning an advance ticket for yourselves will be just £5! Are we mad?!? :daft:

Oh do please pay attention in class Miss Violette!

First night @ Junction (2) is 20th September. After that it will be every third Saturday of the month.

The third Saturday in October 2008 is the 18th.

Which is the same night as ours.

So you can go to Junction on 20th Sept and then to ours on 18th Oct... but the Junction / Salon Rouge will also be on (again) on 18th Oct.

After this, if we are continuing, it will (obviously) be on a different night to Salon Rouge, so then you CAN go to both! (We will be...)

So can I put you down for a ticket then...?

(P.S- I do a writing/english course at uni and I would like to do a review of the events I go to, if I happen to be succesful, after approaching various local newpapers/magazines, would you mind if it was published?)

Ahh now why didn't you say? That could be getting you a free ticket and invite to the pre-party if we would be able to use such a review on our website for subsequent events!

Anyway & meanwhile... Phoenix, Spirit of Fire has had to withdraw due to injury and hopefully return for our second night... so Miss Golden de Licious will now be performing at 11pm, not 10pm as previously advertised.

2nd night? Yes, we will be having an Xmas BnGH, same venue, on Saturday 13th December - same ticket price and discounts to forum members! If the first two are any kind of a success, we will be going regular from 2009, maybe every 2-3 months.

Miss Pink & Fluffy has already confirmed for our December date, and negotiations are afoot for a live band as well...
