My first Burlesque lesson next week
Hi Everyone,
Looking for some advice I'm finally going to my first Burlesque lesson next week really excited but also slightly worried!Firstly I was wondering what kind of clothing should I wear? Is it better to wear loose dress etc?
Also I'm not sure if the teacher is a burlesque performer, its only says that she had taken burlesque classes herself, this worries me slightly even though I'm going to go for a introductory session but if I decided to sign up for block it is quite expensive and I'd like to know I was being taught by someone who has experience preforming burlesque. I guess I can ask her when I attend next week.

They usually ask you to bring some heels and skirt, also a top you don't have to struggle to get out of (like pulling over your head). But they should have explained that anyway.
What's the teachers name (stage name) then we'll be able to tell you if she performed or not. x

Hi,
I've haven't done many classes but when I have they recommended having a top which buttons up, a shirt or a jacket. They also said bring long gloves if you have any, heels, a short skirt and a dressing gown, one with a tie fastening. Of course ultimately, the clothes you wear will depend entirely on what you want your act to be.
Have fun! x

Hi all,
Im also starting burlesque lessons next week in sheffield along with fire breathing!! Eventually im hoping to get into performing properly if i get good/confident at it.
What are the best ways to get into actual stage performing??

Fire Breathing! That sounds awesome fun! To get into performing... I'd love to be more help but it'd be the blind leading the blind I'm afraid! Ask the person running the class for advice, maybe they organise shows themselves and they'll probably know about venues you can contact. Whenever I've danced/performed anywhere it's usually been through friends etc. x
