Goddess Burlesque:Please Help!
Hello All,
I am working on a final section for my piece based on Isis and am trying to show a contrast between Isis ( a mother/fertility Goddess) and Aset ( who was rather more strongwilled and fierce). Any ideas how i might put this across vissually? I will be dancing on a long table with a big sarcophagus on it!!
Thank you xxx

Heya sweets, I've studied Ancient Egyptian mythology and culture for years. Isis is the Greece form or version of Aset or Eset who was the Egyptian goddess of Magick, mother to Horus and wife to Osiris.
She was worshipped all other Egypt and Greece, as well as other places and also had the role of protector of the dead and woman. She was shown as a protector and devoted to her family. She was crafty, clever and cunning.
I'm not sure how you want to show the different aspects of her but maybe you could come from a mothering maternal angle then change it to a sexy Magick routine? You could even raise her dead husband Osiris from the sarcophagus!
Hope this helps at all!
Good luck whatever you decide to do

Ancient History degree and follower of Kemetic faith here! I'd would start with some very peaceful music, showing her feminine, maternal side. Then change the tone of the music to something more drastic and sinister to show her fierce vengeance on the god Seth, for killing Osiris and trying to do the same to her son, Horus.
I think she also created the Cobra to bite Ra so you could incorporate snakes into your routine. From a personal, religious point of view, modern practioners believe that she is rather fond of champagne and is known as the Lady of Diamonds! Isis may well be the original burlesque diva so enjoy!
