Old Style Burlesque
I've been getting quite interested in the old-style, satire based burlesque routines. I haven't seen any performed, and wondered if anyone had any useful resources that could help me with 'me learnin'.
I think I've pretty much exhausted Youtube, But have yet to find a lovely book or film that could give me some idea.
Can anyone help?

Check out any videos on you tube of the following people - they are perfect examples of the kind of burlesque you are looking for which is british burlesque in its truest sense -
Kittie Klaw
Lord Dashwood
Red Sarah
Jim Devereaux
Viva Misadventure and Gypsy Charms...........
If you enter their names into th search bar their videos should come up.
Happy viewing!!!

Pretty Things
I haven't had a chance to see it, but there's a film called 'Pretty Things' that goes with a book... the book 'Pretty Things' by Liz Goldwyn is full of lovely old pictures... it's American burlesque, so it might not be so heavy on the satire, but they've certainly got loads of themed costumes, so the film should be worth a look.
