Default Inspiration for new Burlesque-a-cise exercise class

    Hi everyone

I'm starting a new Burlesque-a-cise exercise class in Edinburgh, and I wanted to know if you had any ideas on good music or inspiration I could draw on for this.

I'm thinking of the first section of the class being upbeat - Christina Aguilera Candyman etc to get the blood pumping (this section done in trainers, swing style or jump and jive music etc), then a 20 minute set of low inpact Burlesque done in heels with evening gloves or fans?

This won't be true Burlesque (obviously!), just a new way for people to exercise to exciting music and get fit and toned. I'm really using Burlesque as inspiration, as I know it will motivate loads of people and increase confidence as well as getting people more fit and toned.

I'm a big lass and I'm quite passionate about ensuring this is fun, sassy and something new to motivate people to exercise who may not have in the past.

If you have any ideas, let me know!

    Thanks
    Ginger

are you a trained fitness instructor or dance teacher hun? If not you might want to do some research into the most effective ways of burning calories/toning/limbering, etc. and apply "burlesque" dance moves to existing "fitness class" moves (in the same way the Zumba takes traditional fitness class moves and disguise them in the latin american dance moves.)

I'll be interested to know how your classes go. Its something I've been considering for a while as I'm already a dance teacher and Zumba instructor but I couldn't think of a way to balance out the sexy, glamorous image of burlesque with the sweaty fitness class experience!

    Hiya

Yes, just trained as a Exercise to Music instructor, and yes, Zumba was the inspiration for taking the Burlesque style into an exercise class! :-)

I kinda thought we would do a 30 min cardio section using burlesque style tunes so this section is more about fat burning. Thought tunes like Candyman, Don't sit under the apple tree etc to get people 'bouncing' a bit

Then change into small heels for a 20 min section of low inpact strutting - this section is more about increasing confidence than exercise but hopefully some of the slow and definite moves will contribute to body toning.

I think this is gonna be suck it and see, so I'll let you know how it goes! classes start at beginning of Sept - gulp!

Any ore ideas for tunes or thoughts are gratefully rec'd!
