Thread: soo I have my first show coming up and I need help putting togethere a routine.

It might seem a little cliche but I kind of want to do a number show tune routine something like from Miss Saigon or Cabaret I think.

possibly rent if anyone has any input I would love to hear it I am totally excited for all of this.....but still very nervous about it as well.

I'm assuming you have a strong dance background and will be having lots of dance in the routine? I might steer clear of Cabaret as lots of people have used the songs from Cabaret.

Your profile picture is very cute and pin-up looking,maybe think of a musical or song that goes with this if this is your look? Something from South Pacific maybe... I don't know that genre of musical very well, but I'm thinking of 'I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair' and 'There is nothing like a dame' and that sort of thing.

i agree with the south pacific theme. you could also try 'honey bun' from the scene where nellie puts on a show for the soldiers

Rent! Trouble with Rent though is that the songs dont really stand alone, they fit in the context of the show, you would probably have to change the words somewhat to make it make sense, or get the compere to make it clear you are doing a number from a show! "It was a lucky day today on avenue A, when a lady in a limousine called my way..."

the first night didn't go as bad as I though though sadly I was not able to put together a routine as quickly as I would have liked to though I do have a bit of time between now and when I have my next show so going to play around with and hopefully come up with something nice.
I was told the first time I did it I was not so bad. I had a bit of a malfunction with one of my pasties lol....which was interesting to say the least. I am going to try to make as many as I can so I have a good stock on hand. lol and at some point I must go and buy wigs....grr just my car is not functioning right now so thats a bit annoying but ahh well it will be remedied in due time. I found a way cute suzuki car that I really, really want that seems in my price range.

Since you have the classic pin-up look going for you, and you seem to like musicals, have a listen to the music from Guys and Dolls. "Luck Be a Lady" would be a fun number!

you have a very good point I think I should very well do just that for my next show coming up in march.
lol although i am doing drag also...so I have to plan a routine for doing that as well.
