Introduction to Burlesque Workshop in Glasgow
Yep, due to popular demand I am launching Burlesque workshops!
Utilising my 12+ years in performance, my 9+ years dancing as a vintage showgirl with legendary club night Vegas!, 6+ years burlesque performing and not to mention my Diploma in Physical Theatre and my Masters in Fine Art, I am going to be teaching Introduction to Burlesque classes at The Arches in Glasgow.
The first one is on Saturday the 4th February and is from 1.30-4.30pm.
I'll be offering an introductory history of the Artform alongside the Neo-Burlesque scene of today, the basics of peel and reveal (with gloves and boas) and how to tassel twirl (don't worry you don't have to get naked!) This is a girls only class and the accent will be on charm, charisma, confidence and comedy- it's meant to be fun! This is not a performance class (you will not be performing in public at the end of this) as it's more about boosting confidence and having fun alongside like-minded females and is suitable for all ages (18+ only, mind!)
This 3 hour workshop is limited to 12 people so I can give you all a fair amount of attention and is at HALF-PRICE as it's the first one! So it will be £12.50 for the first one instead of £25.
Included in this price will be a glass of cava (mmm- the champagne of Spain!) use of gloves, boas and tassels and a wee hand-out at the end recommending sources of inspiration for further reading, learning and inspiration.
If you would like to book a place, please email me or message me through here or on facebook.
More about me as a performer:
As a burlesque performer I have been performing now for nearly 7 years. I have performed all over the UK and Internationally at events ranging from The Coney Island Rockabilly Festival, to Connect Festival to the Burlesque Hall of Fame Convention in Las Vegas, USA alongside legendary performers such as Roxi D'Lite (Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2010), Dirty Martini (Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2004), Angie Pontani (Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2008), Anna Fur Laxis (1st Runner-Up Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2011). I have also won a coveted Golden Pastie Award at the New York Burlesque Festival (the "Oscars" of the Burlesque World) and taken performance workshops with World Famous *BOB*, and Living Legends Wild Cherry and the late Tura Satana.
