Post New girl looking for music

    Hey everyone
I'm devising my first routine and need a little help choosing music. My troupe is old school, and I'm looking for a song that reflects that, I'm thinking pre-1950, ideally WW2 era. Something fairly upbeat, but not cute. I'm styling my character at least somewhat after Marlene Dietrich, but her music (what I've found so far) is a bit slow.

Thanks in advance for any of your suggestions!

Here's some ideas that come to mind - what about 1940's with a modern twist with a number by the Puppini Sisters? Possibilities could be songs like Libertango, I Will Survive or Bei Mir Bist Du Schon.

Or there's always the goddess Billie Holiday, she did do upbeat as well as melancholy - Them There Eyes or Now or Never for example.

Or, if you're thinking Marlene-ish, what about When You Got It, Flaunt It from The Producers?

If you like the Puppini sisters it's worth looking at the The Pipettes too. They do old fashion style but with more modern lyrics. Absolutely love them :-)

Yay! Love it when people pick up on bands I like :-) Keep toying with using 'one night stand' but am trying to sort out the routines I have before jumping into another.
