Newbie looking for name advice...
I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in general chat. Seems most talk here is about classes and whatnot. BUT here goes...
---
I call Portland, Oregon in the US home. I am very new to burlesque. I'm working on making my debut this summer. I'm very passionate about it and can't wait to be on stage!
I was so excited to find this forum because I need some help...
I am having a name dilemma. I have thought about it for so long and just can't seem to settle on one. I thought if I posted here and bounced some ideas off of all of you it would help. All of you lovely ladies really know your burlesque
So I am a teeny tiny definitely alternative looking girl. Pink & purple hair, tattooed, pierced, etc. I really want a name with a big rawr factor. I am also huge into horror movies and gore so have been thinking a lot about names in that vein.
My given name is very unique (Lacey Axemaker)... but I really want to get away from little old me and into an over the top character. It would be awesome to include some Axe-ness in there somewhere, but I haven't figure out just how yet.
This is what I have so far... I'm having a lot of trouble with this so any ideas or opinions would be so greatly appreciated!!

Holly Hatchet
Betty Deadly
Ruby Ruin

Dolly Danger
Rosey Ruthless
(Obviously I am a big fan alliteration

But Lacey Axemaker is such a fantastic name!!
I'm not sure if I'm going to help much here but here goes - I was always think you want to make sure that people don't confuse you with others, you need to be as unique as possible (my old english teacher spins in her grave at my terrible grammar).
There's already a Burlesque performer in the States called Dolly Danger, I think she used to perform with the Crimson Kiss troupe. There's also a Dangerous Dolly here in the UK.
Ruby Ruin, though a fantastic name, isn't a burlesquer, but she still has a myspace page (and you have to have a think about how you want people to find you in the future - do you want them googling your new name but finding lots of other versions) - she's a bass player in Canada.
The same goes with Holly Hatchet - there are a few girls using this name on various fora
Betty Deadly doesn't seen to be taken and with your alternative vibes fits well with love for Bettie Page......although I think Lacey Axemaker is just perfect
The Russian Doll Lass - like Shrek's onion, but with sequins...

I had the same dilemma when I first started, but because I didn't have enough time before my first show, I stuck with my own name instead. I've been known as Miss Jess or just Jess since. Though I am considering a name change
