I don't see any reason why you wouldn't want to learn the art of burlesque dancing. Big is beautiful. I always thought that burlesque dancers came in all different shapes and sizes (correct me if I'm wrong anyone and I'll have to give up before I start because I'm not exactly a skinny minnie myself lol)
You go for it girl!
good luck

have a look in the burlesque chat area and you will see a thread called larger performers..... the response I got should tell you everything you need to know...... which is any size can do it if they want and that your tog was completely wrong you can absolutely do it if you want.
I saw Miss Dixey Diamond at the weekend perform and she is not tiny and she had bags of confidence, great acts and was completely fabulous......I want her under bust corset! :genius:

There's nothing wrong with doing dance classes as a bigger girl. I was a size 18 when I started performing! I'd highly recommend the MoB classes and workshops for giving a background to burlesque, a great laugh and a chance to meet fellow burlesquers.

If you want to make the steps to start performing rather than just modelling, make sure you do it because YOU want to do it... and not just because someone says it'd be right for you.
Burlesque, for me, is about entertainment, stage craft and passion. If entertaining is your game, and you'd like to offer a room full of people something new and exciting to watch - go for it.

I agree with this ^
Although I haven't performed since doing my class, it gave me a better appreciation of the art and taught me some sexy moves that I can use at my own discretion :eyebrows: Also you get a taste of how it might be, but in the less nerve wracking environment of a room full of girls who appreciate how difficult it is. After that you can decide whether or not to take it further.
I've seen all sizes perform Burlesque. I find that the twirling is a little painful for my bangers (to quote The Gok) but have seen girls bigger than me who really go for the big finale and come out with tassles flying! Either I need practice to toughen up, or I'm doing it wrong...
