Glasgow Burlesque For Beginners
Sunday 9 November, 12pm-5.30pm

Discover Your Alter Ego! The MoB Academy’s Introduction to Burlesque is a fun filled workshop that will lead you on a whirlwind tour of the world of burlesque. The workshop is designed for those who have no experience in burlesque, as well as those who are considering taking to the stage to reveal their inner Burlesque Beauty to the world!
The class will introduce you to the staples of posing, peeling, teasing and character work. You will pose like Marilyn, peel like Gypsy Rose Lee, tease like Immodesty and discover that inner diva, femme fatale, comedian or ‘bad girl’ – all in a day’s work for a budding burlesque artist!

This workshop will start with burlesque essentials of posture and posing and induct you into the realm of Burly-Cabaret. You will learn how to integrate chair work into a burlesque routine, using characterisation and props. We will also teach you basic peeling techniques and movement to fuse them into burlesque striptease. And of course, the workshop wouldn’t be complete without teaching you the finer points of the art of tassel twirling!

Finally, the workshop will finish by discussing concept-building in burlesque routines, demonstrating how the elements introduced in the course combine to produce a burlesque act.

Please wear comfortable clothing, bring shoes to dance in as well as heels, gloves and a coat.
