Default Burlesque with singing own songs?

I am forming a vuage plan involving learning a burlesque dance routine, and doing it on stage whilst singing songs i have written (with help from better writers than myself). The plan is to have the songs quite funny, of the mostly talking through the verses with a catchy chorus variety.

So, any ideas what sort of humour would work best with burlesque style dancing? Probably with fans as i have a little experience using them.

    Also, any other tips?

Infact, would this idea even work at all?

I am new to burlesque so i dont really know. Cant even afford classes atm (well, atm cant even afford the DVD but i'm working on that) so will have to go it alone with the interwebs to help for a while.

It will work very well - classical burlesque stars tended to be opera stars who found celebrity in burlesque roles.

Burlesque is a form of musical-comedy above all else.
