Hey!!
Hi,
I've just joined and am hoping to get into the burlesque scene, just wanted to say hi really!!
I have been interested in the whole glamour and decedance for some time but have been unable to find any classes or troupes near where i live.
Ive been OD-ing on burlesque on youtube etc.. and am absolutely crazy about learning how to do it myself.
If anyone knows of any classes or any girls that want to take me under their wing in the Derby area, please let me know, i cant wait to get started although there seems to be so much i need to do!!
Any tips or help to get me started would be very much appreciated!!
Love

Hi and welcome!
I'm sure there's someone out there that would be more than happy to help! I know of a few performers from around the Derby area so no doubt you'll find someone to help or point you in the right direction!

Hi Charmerlyn, and welcome to MoB. But be warned.......this site is deliciously addictive!!!
I am local to you and can point you in a few directions. Firstly, check out Pitty Patt Club in Nottingham's once a month burlesque event. Next one is on 13th December. Also, there are regular Hurly Burly events in Derby run by Derby Deda. In Febuary they are holding a beginners burlesque workshop with Cherry DeVille who is the promoter and performer for Pitty Patt. It's only £10 - bargain, and great fun too. I have attended one myself. Contact Derby Deda for more information about this.
If you want to get in touch with me please do although I am only a very new performer myself (debuted last Saturday!!!) and am always asking other performers for advice!!!!! This site is the BEST place to find out information and get help.
Hope this has helped a bit. PM me if you like, would be nice to meet another local.....there are a few of us!!!
kisses

Hi, i'm newbie to MOB to and just starting out on the burlesque world. It is so daunting beacuse it seems like there is so much to so to get started. I bought the book by Ditta von Teese "the art of the teese" it is a great read with gorgeous imagery and is really written for those wanting to start out in Burlesque. It helped me to begin getting my image and ideas for an act together. Got it for £25 from borders but it may be cheaper now. I'm parcticing at home and writing up routines, my husband is my guniea pig until i can have my first proper performance. (I've relised from practicing that stripping off a corset is not as easy as Ditta or immodesty make it look, so practice is vital)
There is a London Burlesque festival held every year that welcomes acts from all over England to come and perform, they hold a newcomer contest with cash prizes fro the top three, the deadline for applying is december 31, i think it could be a good chance to perform in front of club promoters and agents all under one roof.
Hope i've helped and not just rambled on
Good LUCK
