Frustrated Newbie!
Hi! I am new to all of this...I just found this site today when I should be studying for exams!
I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me about the scene in Aberdeen? I know there's a burlesque night in a club is it any good? and are there any classes that a curvy 37 yr old would feel welcome in! I'm not shy just dont like feeling out of place!
Pleeese help cos my partner and I both love burlesque but we need to find ourselves somewhere we can enjoy it!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Welcome to the MoB!
Creme de la Cremation is the girl you want to talk to. :genius: A nicer lass you won't find, simple as that, and she's based in Aberdeen so would be able to point you in the right direction. :twothumbs:
I know Club Sapphire is on the first saturday of every month, and I've heard pretty good things about it, so that might be a place to start. :eyebrows:
Hope that helps.....

Thanks!
I'm not shy just aware that I'm no spring chicken!
I have no problem with what I look like (wouldn't mind toning up though!) and I have a fiance who love my curves so I'm a very lucky lady!
Knowing that all kinds of people are in to burly makes me feel more determined to give it a go!

psst 37 isn't old.....there are quite a few of 40 plussers around and who have been to classes in the last year and weren't laughed out of the room - all ages, all sizes, all colours, all abilities and all sexes (and probably some other groupings I haven't included) do burlesque classes and perform burlesque - I'm sure as time goes by and you get to discover more you're going to be very pleasantly surprised. Plus when you do get to a class, I suspect you'll find you are more at ease with yourself because of the added maturity than some of the teenagers who believe what society and the media feed us about beauty and acceptability
Good Luck! The Russian Doll Lass - like Shrek's onion, but with sequins...

Thank you so much for that!
I know what you mean about being more body conscious when you are younger, when I was 16 I was very slim and petite and I think I am more comfortable and happy with myself now 21 years on, 4 children later and a hell of a lot heavier!
I also think having a partner who adores me, the way I look and who I am (rather than the miserable sod I spent far too long with !) has enhanced my self esteem no end! Not that I need a man to make me feel good about me! Just needed to get rid of one who made me feel crap!

Oi.........37 is NOT too old for burlesque. I'm a 37 year old myself and have just started performing. With age comes wisdom, confidence and innate sex-appeal (I hope!!!) so just go for it sweetie!!!!!!!!!!!
