    Talking New here

    Hello!
I'm new-ish to the burlesque scene. I'm looking at taking classes and eventually breaking into the scene, if all goes well. Luckily I have some great friends who have given me some pointers.

If anyone knows of any burlesque classes in the Vancouver Island area, please let me know.
I know Miss Rosie Bitts is offering a class at the end of March, but I want something more consistent.
In the meantime, I'm going to take about every dance class (bellydancing, jazz, pole dancing) I can afford and get my hands on.

Looking forward to chatting with you and utilizing this "learning burlesque" forum for valuable pointers.

Oh, I also want some feedback on my name -- Kitty Kahlua. I'm not 100% convinced I'll stick with it. So, any suggestions are more than welcome.

    Cheers!

    Hi there, welcome.

I love the Kahlua bit - dark, seductive, sweet but not too sweet. The only thing I'd say is there are LOADS of Kitty's, at least in the UK scene and I can think of a few in other countries (I have to admit I don't know half enough about the burlesque community in Canada)

But on the other hand - alliteration is great for helping people remember your name and any names starting with a K are quite stroong, K is a very strong letter and has proven very successful for certain companies in the past (Kodak a prime example, the word Kodak means absolutely nothing, but was chosen because it was a strong sounding word with string K's in it)

So perhaps toy with a different first name, starting a K?

(I wonder if Kodak would sue if you were "Kodak Kahlau, pretty as a picture and delightfully intoxicating" or "Kodak Kahlua, press her button and she does the rest".............sorry, I'll get my coat, only us oldies or photographers are going to get that second one............

I like Kitty Kahlua! As Tempest said, there are a few Kittys about, but its a good name and if its followed by something that makes it very individual it really won't matter. And it offers potential for a dark cocktail themed act!

    Best of luck

I love your name Raven .... I find it very amusing all the different levels (hoho) of meaning it has dependent on whether you're from Shropshire or not.

To most you're a dark seductive temptress, some might also think of Raven Meadows as a euphemism (or is that just me?), and it's also massively tongue-in-cheek for anyone who regularly uses the lift to get to level 11 and see your top deck

    It's such a fantastic name
