    Default Newbie in the USA

    Help! I'm a newbie that is downright fascinated with burlesque, but doesn't know how to learn! I've looked up as much as I can, but ... I'm stuck!
    I live in Asheville, NC, USA ... so I'm a bit far from all the classes ... and there's nothing near my home anyway.
    Also, I'm rather skint. I've got a black underbust corset and mad sewing skills, but ... any and all advice is appreciated!
    So can someone give me a few tips on how to begin putting things together?

    Thank you all!!!
    Miss Scarlett

    I too am in the US. I stumbled upon a troupe and have been learning that way. I know that social networking sites are the greatest way to find others around you. look me up on myspace if you want..

    Your deffinatly best to use the netwroking sites, there's sure to something going on for you to get to.

    If you really are isolated and live miles from the nearest city you maybe best learning on your own and eventually setting up as a perofrmer when you are ready.

    Local psychobilly nights are happy to have performers as are charity functions. So the way to establish yourself in a small community is just word of mouth.

    Jo weldon teaches the new york school of burlesque and has instructional dvd's.
    & they are available on amazon.

    & there are quite a few books on burlesque, my favourite us title is michelle baldwins bump n grind.

    The mob dvd may not work on your player but there are instructional videos available on this site on mob tv.

    also looking at the myspace of established us performers to see if you recodnise anyone or anything regional.x

    :love::kiss: Best of luck xxxxxxx

    Google your make and model of DVD along with "region hack" or "region code" and you should get instructions of a code you can put into it that will let it play any DVD.

    I'd estimate about 80-90% of players have a really easy way to do this, all from your remote - It's dead easy!!!

    I found them too! We just had the annual Burlesque festival here - I did manage to make it to a few classes!!! Now the hard part is convincing my family that it's not "stripping." [I'm still at home, and I've not got a car ...] [Home is conservative. Very conservative.] But thank you all!! And I'll be sneaking some purchases onto my card soon ...
