MoB Academy fan dance workshops - Glasgow and Edinburgh
Ministry of Burlesque Academy (www.mobacademy.com), the professionally led school for burlesque novices, enthusiasts and experts alike, will be running fan dance workshops in Glasgow and Edinburgh this summer. Taught by Gypsy Charms and Viva Misadventure, these workshops are open to students of any standard. Feather fans provided for all participants. Come and shake a tail feather with us this August!
Burlesque fan dance workshop
Glasgow: Tuesday 11 August 2009, 6-9pm
Edinburgh: Sunday 16 August 2009, 2.15-5.15pm
Made famous by Sally Rand, fan dancing is a show stopping dance style, elegant and visually beautiful. Working with two full size ostrich feather fans, we will teach you how to ‘hide and reveal’, teasing your audience with the fans, and focusing their attention on illusions of exposure.
Fan dancing works on the essence of suggestion and exploits the dancer's skill of manoeuvre, poise and motion. A blend of style, grace, flirtation and a touch of humour make our fan dance class a graceful, exotic and fun way to learn one of the most aesthetically pleasing of all burlesque dance styles.
Please wear comfortable exercise clothing and bring small heels.
Booking is essential for fan dance workshops – email Viva on viva.misadventure@castlist.co.uk. Please advise if you are able to bring your own fans.
Cabaret fan dance workshop
Glasgow: Tuesday 18 August 2009, 6-9pm
Edinburgh: Sunday 23 August 2009, 2.15-5.15pm
In this workshop, we will transport you to the Las Vegas stage. Recreating a stunning formation showgirl routine with feather fans and quintessentially glamorous choreography, this part of the workshop takes its inspiration from the Ziegfeld Follies and the Crazy Horse. Dazzling, dangerous and with a certain je ne sais quoi – join us in creating the West Coast/East Coast Follies!
Please wear comfortable exercise clothing and bring small heels. False eyelashes and rhinestones optional!
Booking is essential for fan dance workshops – email Viva on viva.misadventure@castlist.co.uk. Please advise if you are able to bring your own fans.

Where can I buy a head dress base?
They look good! I wonder if they're made from millinery wire?
