Essex/London Burlesque Scene
Hi there everyone - hope i'm posting this in the right place.
I've just returned from a year in New Zealand (where incidentally i actually saw a very good burlesque show, they have a mini but good scene over there)...now i'm back i have no idea what is happening these days in London/Essex on the Burlesque scene!
Any information on regular wheres, whats and whens would be much appreciated. I'll be keeping an eye on the forums as well.
I'm also looking for new Burlesque Buddies who don't mind me tagging along and hanging out with them at events...most of my friends are non-burlesquers unfortunately and i don't want to let that stop me. Plus it would be lovely to meet some new like minded people!
Thanks :-)

Ah yeah, I'm feeling that! I'm also wondering what's going on around London, was thinking about taking in some entertainment at some point over the next week or so, and indeed some folk to go with! Any recommendations?

Hello! I'm also looking to start going to more burlesque events in London this year, having spent most of last year never seeming to find time for it due to silly amounts of uni work, so seems there's quite a few of us looking to make it to more nights! xxx

Ooh ooh include me in that posse please! Up for all burly events in London and environs

That's really interesting Girly Q, I'm originally from NZ but been living here for several years now and I only knew of one troupe. I have a fantasy of doing burlesque on stage in the Civic Theatre in central Auckland....What show did you see?

It was Step Up Darlings at Bats at the Wellington Fringe Festival...absolutely fantastic, with Magenta Diamond and Eva Strangelove and another girl who i can't recall, who did this beautiful hoop dance in a hoop suspended from the ceiling...It was a mixture of Burlesque, Caberet, Skits and Acrobatics but it was great. Magenta Diamond hammered nails up her nose!!! Quite shocking!!
And yes the Civic Theatre would be amazing to do a Burlesque show at, such a beautiful theatre...i'd love to do it at the Embassy theatre in Welly, where they had the LOTR premiere...don't think New Zealand is quite ready for that however!
We shall definitely have to meet up, because i miss New Zealand and hearing your accent will make me all nostalgic lol!
