London newbie needs a little guidance!
Hello all you lovelies!
Right, I couldn't be more new to this if I tried. Well, that's a little bit of a fib, I've been a fan of burly for YEARS and pin-up, Rockabilly and general feathery fun has always been a secret love of mine. I'm now (finally
) in a place where I can explore my love and all round adoration for all things burly/pin-up but I have no idea where to start!
Can anyone give me any advice? Any books to read? Sites to read? Fashion to buy? Anyone fancy taking this newbie under their wing?!
I'm a London gal but I've never broken into the Burley scene because of not wanting to go alone or because of dissaproval from "others". I'm passionate but I severly lack in the confidence department (but I'm working on that
). I just don't know where to start.
Lots of love and cookies,
Nimble_Pie

Hey, you sound a bit like me! I'm quite new to the scene myself, living in West London - fancy going to a burly night together?

Hello there!
There's loads of cool nights going on in the capital (just have a look in the cabaret section of Time out)... If you'd like to try a workshop for yourself, Lady Cheek runs classes as The Cheek Of It All School Of burlesque - we went to one of her all-dayers about 2 years ago and she was brilliant at bringing confidence out in everyone! Burlesque Baby are also good... for essential reading, The Burlesque Handbook by Jo Boobs Weldon is a great read for you, packed with loads of tips and stuff. She also has a few DVDs out - speaking of which, there's a Ministry Of Burlesque DVD which is really good and instructional...
Hope all that helps!

Hey there! I'd love to join in, if there's room. I'm a compere-in-training, madly in love with the burlesque scene.
