Crucial question: London or Manchester?
Dears ladies and gentlemen,
The fateful moment is approaching and while I put all the tools of the trade in the large bag of mary poppins, my brain takes tea with doubt: London or Manchester? What is the best garden to plant the seeds of my imagination? Tips are welcome!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Oh this is a hard one being from the north and loving Manchester and having lived there for a good few years I would say Manchester!
But saying that all the cool people hang out in that London town and I like the fact What Katie Did and a few other amazing shops would be on your door step. but then again saying that! Kiku are in Manchester and Pastiche are too! I love both places I have to say.
It's a tough one!!!

London is its own world in a sense, full of buzz and busyness, noise and dirt, big, full of history, everything new happens there, it has a real feel. Lots of burlesque going on. For me the downside to London is its size (which could also be a plus point too), too much traipsing round on the tubes, too much pushing and shoving, so big it is hard to get to grips with it at first. And it is bloody expensive! I would love to live there for a short time though.
Manchester has real character, its beautiful and gritty, small enough to negotiate but big enough to have lots to do. It has an amazing history, the "shock city" of the industrial age with a difficult and bloody past. There is a good burlesque community here, if you came to Manchester you could come to North West Burlesque Society meetings and meet some people. It is small enough and there are few nights enough that if you attend regularly, you can meet the same people and make new friends. I love Manchester, it is both stimulating and aggravating. Outside of London, I have never met another city with the same character and feel (Edinburgh and Newcastle are nice and buzzing but much smaller).
