Some pictures Ive made, your opinions.
My new obsession is photo editing.I love old images and mess about with them.
Heres a couple im working on and wondered if you gals and guys could cast your eyes over them and make suggestions to improve them before I have them printed. If I have the skill to make the improvemtns I will but my computer skills are limited.
The resolution wont be too good due to their age(that doesnt really bother me)but just wondered how I could improve them.I think the star themed one could do with a revamp.Looks a bit muddy.Whadyathink?WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

The one with the purple flowers is absolutely beautiful, I love it! Only thing I would say about it is crop the base that she's standing on out.
I agree with you about the starry one, if it was a little sharper, perhaps with greater contrast on the figure, it would look more modern.
I think you've done a great job, they're gonna be brilliant!

I think the background on both seems quite dark and could maybe do with brightening a bit, (i know the stars one depicts night and its supposed to be dark) this probably makes the paleness of the models skin stand out but it makes them seem gloomy and yes 'muddy' is a good term

Flowers one is definately better, I'd have used a harder edged brush for the stars and maybe made them slightly less opaque so they would have appeared to be painted onto the models skin rather than appearing to be in front of the model.
I like the flowers one, however for future reference might I suggest an old trick, if you have access to a high ceilinged studio get a ladder and shoot down onto a model lying on the floor, that way you won't get a slightly odd looking foot and you can also do tricks with aranging the hair

Both are great images. It would be nice to see the originals though to see what's been done.
The most obvious critique I can say is that the image with the girl holding the moon.... the seam in the background needs to go. Whether it was in the original image or not as the viewers eyes will be drawn to it.Chris Giles Photography | Blog | Facebook | Flickr
Always be honest with your clients, if you aren't they'll have false expectations of you and there's nothing worse for business than a client who's been sold some magic beans. Even more so when all they wanted was their picture taken.
