Hmmm... why do you love this, but when I suggested that we could stick six nipple tassels and a chastity belt onto your mum's kitten, you objected strongly.

Although I can see why people find this funny as a non liking cat person but animal fan, I didn't find this funny.

I suppose I find it funny because it's like the feline version of:
"Get that thing off! Theres no way you're going out like that!"
Which is like an old, familiar aspect of my youth xxx

I suppose it's funny for the same reasons that many things are - pleasant or not - namely that there is an unexpected juxtaposition. In this case, it's unbearable cuteness paired with an unexpected violent paw swipe. I think too, it's the way the hat flies off as if in a Tom and Jerry or Ren and Stimpy cartoon.

It makes people laugh because they are reacting to it with surprise. Laughter is not an emotion, it's a reaction.

The next reaction for me was to feel sorry for the kitten and feel bad for laughing - even though we can't really control these 'knee jerk' style reactions.
