    Hi
I am a rent a flat out and would accept pets depending on what it is and what the owner is like! (i.e. if they're clean and tidy you know your house won't get 'dogified!)
We always advertise as No Pets, but the agent knows we would accept if the pet is right and the owner is right. We just say no, to stop someone with a huge bear of a dog that is going to destroy the house with hair and drool moving in!
I would say, don't let 'no pets' put you off. Ask the landlord or agent and i'm sure they'll be lenient. Plus, the rental market is pretty slow at the moment, so it's worth trying your luck.
    Good luck

Be thankfull you don't live where Louise and I live!! Our tenancy agreement is 8 pages thick of doublesides A4 paper...........Catagorically states "NO PETS ALLOWED" unless one asks permission and the "landlord" agrees to it...............The agent refuses to allow Louise and I to have a dog BUT, our next door neighbour has one..............He, at 65, has now found himself a very much younger "girlfriend" who has TWO dogs that we know of.............We are wondering if he is going to have her and said dogs move in with him...........The court case would be wonderful!

Seems that the agent for the landlord run a "If you sneak the animal in under the radar and it don't shit all over the ultra private conservation area one lives in, then we will ignore the animal, however, if you ask permission and go about things all legal then we will refuse you permission." So, we have had rats and mice and still have our stick insects and our new piggies
