Norman Wisdom dies aged 95
In the news today - BBC News - Comedy actor Sir Norman Wisdom dies at the age of 95

I for one am very sad. It comes to us all, but it's never nice when someone dies. And I have to say, he had a huge influence on (what was later to become) my performance style.
As a child I grew up watching his films, dated as they are now, and even got to meet him when I was about 9yrs old. Had a lovely conversation with him, and he was just super nice.
From an early age it was the influence of Sir Norman (amongst others) who made me go for the comedy roles at school. Which is difficult in a nativity, but I usually still managed to bring the humour, in fact it was often expected of me.
Throughout my local theatre and student theatre days, my main role was that of the comic stooge, and my performances were in no small part influenced by Norman Wisdom.
Even now, in this glittering world of burlesque I have found myself in, I still try and channel those comedy moments, be it facial expressions, moves, or more generic parts of my routines, I bring out the humour that was imparted to me by a greater degree by this man.
I expect I am not the only one amongst us with fond memories of his particular brand of old school humour.
Very sad news
