Burlesque Art?
Without trying to sound all arty
are there any artists or creative type people who's work you adore love or get inspiration from?
I was down Bournemouth way last month at an event with a art exhibition, the art work was mostly kinky or fetish related and I was wondering if people have certain artists or photographers or work they really like, with reference to pin-up burlesque or similar.
here are a few people or artists that I like including
Handmade Designer Wallpaper, Prints, Cushions, Teatowels, Aprons, Plates and Mugs by Dupenny They have some stunning wall papers and cushions and I plan to purchase more from them! I am in love with lots from them including their collection of Burlesque Cushions.
artonleather.co.uk homepage - Art on Leather Art On Leather had some stunning and amazing work when I saw their collection they are a fairly new company too!

Jennifer Janesko & Olivia De Bernardis are two contemporary pin-up artists I've been a big fan of for years. I also love Ben Newman and local painter, Fiona Wilson.
Although not exactly burlesque-related, I'm also a huge fan of the erotic works of Audrey Kawasaki, Brian M. Viveros and the street art (I'm still on the fence when it comes to her canvas work) of Miss Van.
Historically, the works of Alphonse Mucha, Tamara de Lempicka and Aubrey Beardsley give me a total wettie.

I'm really into artists who kind of 'live their art' and become part of it. I really dig Greyson Perry (transvestite ceramic artist, who does performance instalation stuff too) Gilbert a and George, who's life is their art work. Louise Bougiours who's sculptures and instalations were so overwhelming emotionaly. Robert Gober, instalation artist who played around with a load of sex and gender issues. A woman called Nikki S Lee, who dresses up and has photos taken as various different 'types' of people. She researches this by living as them for months, the spent months living in an old folks home for example to experience the life they lead. Cindy sherman also does some cool costumed stuff, really nasty and exagerated.
There's lots more too, more classical artists, and artists in the broarder sense too, film makers composers etc, but those few came to mind right now. x

My taste in art in somewhat dark and to some considered quite disturbing...
There are so many artists that inspire me but in terms of painters there are 3 that I have been a fan of for many years. They are;
Shawn Barber - Still Life Oil Painter. (I was lucky enough to meet him at the opening of Corey Miller's Gallery in LA last year....swit swoo :P)
Kevin Llewellyn - 19th Century Realism Art (probably my favourite painter at present)
Michael Hussar - Old Master Style painting.
If you were to put the work of these three extraordinary talents into a centrifuge then you would get a glimpse of what makes up my deepest psyche...hmmmmm.
I haven't referenced their work in any of my acts as yet...it would probably scare the living **** out of most humble folk. However, one of my life ambitions is to possibly at sometime create a performance installation that could well be influenced by my taste in contemporary painters?!
