    Question gaming anyone?

just wondering if we have any video gaming fans on here! ...mainly because i want someone to gush about LA Noire with.

i'm personally a big rpg player, but if the other half is playing any other games with interesting storylines i enjoy just watching too.

i'm really enjoying the 40's and 50's set games that are coming out lately, thought i'd post some good ones here- if youre a gaming widow, at least get your other half to play these so you can enjoy the setting and soundtracks!

LA Noire- set in 1947 LA after the war. real film noire style, you play a detective and investigate various cases (a lot based on real cases in LA at the time). this one is gritty- you even examine bodies, including black dahlia victims, and you definitely see the seedy side of hollywood (casting couch for underage girls... ew). great in-depth storyline. massively authentic- apparently the LA in the game architecture-wise is around 95% accurate to how it would have been back then. costumes and scenery are great. heres some info as to just how far they went with the production design: L.A. Noire | Rockstar Games
however what this game is really famous for is the groundbreaking facial expressions- theyve spent a LOT of money on mapping every nuance of the voice actors' expressions and it really shows. oh and also, i dont watch mad men but some dude from that plays the lead character.

Mafia 2- havent played this for a while so cant go into too much detail on the storyline, but you play a guy working his way up through the mafia ranks in America. lots of nice 40s and 50s scenery, but what made this game stand out to me was the retro soundtrack. you also get to collect and see vintage playboy magazines. which is always a good thing, isnt it?

Fallout 3- set in an alternative, post-apocalyptic world- retro-futurist washington DC. as you walk around exploring the scenery, it looks like a ruined, nuclear bombed 50s. a brilliant and simply huge game, and incredibly engrossing. the soundtrack is also fantastic, some great quirky old tracks. ...i wouldnt bother with the newer fallout: new vegas. glitchy as hell.

Bioshock 1 and 2- impossible to get the setting, story, and awesomeness of these games across in a few sentences, so instead i introduce you to my friend wikipedia: BioShock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia some beautiful underwater, dystopian, 40's style settings. if you can imagine that. really creepy and atmospheric.

wow that was longer than expected. i was trying to be brief too :/

    so, gamers..? make yourselves known

Not a video gamer sorry, but we're just about to hold our first murder mystery party set in 1937.. it's been great fun getting all our costumes sorted. Especially researching all the cocktails of the period :-)
