Experience points - Can someone fill me in?
I'm a bit confused about the experience points. I love a good competition and if its going to give me points I'll probably do it. But I'm a bit confused about Newbie/Novice Member etc etc. Please could someone fill me in?
Also I've looked at the experience tab and it shows you all the awards you can get - but not how to get them - for instance you can get rewards for referrals - but how do I do this?
Thanks guys and gals

Hi Cherry to be fair I cannot comment on the theory behind it all but I am competitive and have started using MOB more since the scheme came into place, I think it's made me more aware of my profile within the internet scene especially with the activity bar, letting me know how much I have been on here only if other sites did the same kind of thing.
It is easier with my Ipad though as I can use it on the go and keep up to date with what's happening.
The basic jist of things is the more active you are on here the more points and rewards you get. Post's give you points and points boost your levels.

Thanks Alice, I see you are a Junior member, is that something you get after time registered on the site or for the amount of points you rack up?
I'm still a newbie but I've seen other profiles who are Novices but registered after me and have less points. I'm so confused!

Is it actually a competition? I thought it was just a record of activity.

It's not a competition, it's simply a fun way of showing how active you are on the site. Alsom in relation to user titles, they are as follows:
0 posts - Newbie
10 posts - Novice Member
100 posts - Junior Member
250 posts - Senior Member
500 posts - Advanced Member
1000 posts - Elite Member

Thank you James! I (almost) understand it now!
Do I sound thick? ha ha I have a degree and I run my own business but I am still flumoxed by a user points system on a website! tut tut
Plus I know its NOT a competition but like Alice I'm naturally competitive! And look I'm a novice member now :-)

Thanks for clarifying James. Good to know - went all of a panic then - with no actual reason to. Mondays... I blame Mondays.

I require a prize, I love prizes & haven't won anything since that Michael Jackson-Thriller doll about 25 years ago.
Maybe if I keep posting informative stuff like this, glittering prizes will be mine...

I didn't mean to make it sound like it was a contest

I'm not an aggressive competitive person, I just enjoy the banter it brigs within people.
I do think it's a great little widget or function as it dose make people aware of their activity within a site.

I'm sure you can publish your own work and get an ISBN etc and come sites give you the opportunity...
