    Default Heyllo to you all!

    Heyllo!

Nice to be here and meet you all! I've been a forum lurker for a while and decided it was time to register, though I'm not sure I'm posting my introduction in the correct place.. If not, my apologies.

I'm relatively newish to the burlesque scene, and am interested in heading down the performer route. I have a few ideas in mind and am working on one at the moment to hopefully try out at some point.

Anyhoo, I think I shall go be a slightly less lurkerish reader now,

    Hello and welcome.

I'm sure you will find everyone really friendly and helpful. The best piece of advice i can give a new performer is research research and research some more. There are very few 'new ideas' in burlesque now, so finding an act that is totally unique is not as easy as it sounds. It might be worth posting a rough idea of your act eg rabbit themed fan dance, so experienced performers can say xyz does something similar.
And don't spend £000s on costume and props until you are really happy with your act. I have wasted money on props for acts that i shelved because they weren't working or i wasn't happy with them.
But most of all have fun, make friends and enjoy your time in the spotlight.

Thank you for your lovely welcomes! I love reading everything on this forum so I'm sure I'll love joining in with the conversation just as much. It's nice to have been welcomed so warmly.

I can see how it probably would be a good idea to ask about act ideas and get feedback. I've been doing a lot of research for a long time now and I've come to the conclusion that almost anything you think of, has been done.

When I was browsing on here I read this thread (not been a member for long enough! It won't let me post the link. It's the top one in burlesque and cabaret chat) with a question about smoking on stage because the poster wanted to do an Alice in Wonderland Caterpillar act involving a shisha, and someone else does it. AiW is loved by so many people, but that exact act (to me anyway) seems quite obscure (in a good way) and yet it has been done, or is being done.

Anyway, I should still ask about to get initial responses and feedback
