    Smile Film suggestions please!

    Hello lovely ladies and gents!

I find I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment and so I was hoping people could suggest some films for me to buy... I've recently got into old films. Just watched Cleopatra for the first time and loved it, especially the costumes! But I have no idea what to watch next. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you xxx

I'm not film buff, but have one or two I always like.

My all time fav is Death In Venice, if you feel like having a good old weep!

I also like pretty much anything with Christopher Lee in, from the old Hammer Horrors, to more recent stuff. I really like A Tale Of Two Cities.

Musical wise, I have a secret love of Chicargo! A feel good musical about murderers!

Costume wise, I love Bram Stokers Dracula.

And visual wise, In The Company Of Wolves is great. x

if you like it epic, you can't beat jason and the argonauts.

if you haven't seen Barefoot in the Park, that's very charming and anything with Marilyn Monroe or Doris Day is always worth a watch

    enjoy

Kick back and relax with an old musical - you can't go wrong with The King and I! Or go for some old-time horror/suspense like Hitchcock's The Birds. Cheesy Hammer with The Wicker Man? Or old Cary Grants films - oh boy I could go on and on!! Enjoy!!!

I would definately recommend 'The Night They Raided Minksy's' as an absolute cracker of a film. Especially if you want a Burlesque link in there.
I thoroughly entertaining watch from start to finish!!

Try 'Stormy Weather' it stars Bill Robinson (Bojangles) there are some fantastic scenes in it, a dance/music scene on a steamer with the Tramp Band which always makes me happy whatever my mood & also Fat's Waller with Ada Brown playing in a club, in fact there are too many good scenes to mention.

If you like the silents, try 'Piccadilly' with Anna May Wong, probably my favourite silent of all. may be worth investng in a membership for a decent film (dvd rental) club.

I'm a huge Bogart fan so Casablanca or The Big Sleep are always high on my list. I also admit to a bit of a soft spot for It's A Wonderful Life - but shhhh don't tell anyone!
