Thread: What are you good at?

We spend so much time being self-deprecating and/or beating ourselves up for not being this that and the other. I thought I would start a thread to talk about what we are actually good at, rather than what we would like to change. I will start:

• I am really good at writing, both creatively and academically

• I am very kind when it comes down to it

• I am pretty good at being funny

• I am quite insightful and enquiring of mind

There you go! That was quite hard actually! Now you, what are your strengths?

Well...

- I am very good at memorizing lyrics (of songs), even if I hate the songs
- I am a reliable magnet for cats
- I am very good at spoofing dance styles
- I can do great fingerwaves
- I´ve got good sense of rhythm

I'm really good at putting my foot in my mouth (figuratively)... if there is a situation brewing I will always miss it as I'm oblivious!

I'm good at laughing, and enjoying life

I'm good at complaining (other half suggested this), what he meant was that I'm good at standing up for myself and calm enough to be assertive without being aggressive

I'm good at singing, although it's enthusiasm rather than talent most of the time

I'm good at being a mum, and I'm great at cooking Yorkshire Puddings

I'm good at mental arithmetic too!

Ooo, this is a fun thread! You're right Glorian, we don't know how to say what we are good at enough of the time!!
So here's my 'good things' list...

I am good at making double chocolate brownies and banana bread! Yum!

Good at advising on what looks visually pleasing and creating a strong aesthetic whether on a person or in a place (mainly because of my styling background)

I am good at reading people (I think anyway)

I am also good at giving silly names to dance steps so that people remember the movement easily because it makes them laugh when they think of my explanation.

Me too My favourite one I named was "is he there?" strangely because it was was a quick leg move that (god knows where my brain was) all I could think of describing it was "as if your checking the water quickley to see if there's a crocodile??? What was I thinking??? then where you'd pulled your leg back you then forward so after shouting "is he there?" I'd say "no he isn't!"

difficult...but here is my list.

I'm assertive and determined.
Great at maths as from a young child I worked at the races with my dad the bookmaker (crap at writting and spelling though!)
Very trustworthy and supportive (even people I barely know from work call me for advice!)
I can make great balloon models
Good at quick comebacks and making people laugh which comes from all the years of fire station banter with the boys!
Not good at baking but great at eating cakes!!

I dont think enough people do complain when it counts...no point moaning when you get home, you have to complain to give them the chance to put it right...when they don't and you put forward a great argument which basically makes them look useless and they have to back down it is so satisfying, and when other people do and you don't raise your voice or lose your temper or swear that view from the moral highgroud is so much better!!! Love it x
