Thread: Rain rain go away

What a night I have had.

Myself and Steve went to the camera club we belong to this evening....parked up in our usual place, went in, had a drink etc and sat down to an evening on post production.

Around 9:30pm, one of the members came over and said that the drains could not cope with the amount of rainwater and that the road had flooded.

Myself, Steve and others went out to the road and were shocked. The water was up to the middle of the car doors....on all of the cars parked there.

To cut a long story short, steve had to climb in through the upper section of the boot that opens seperately; we had to wade through the water, up to my thighs; and push the car out of the water.

We then spent the next hour bailing water out of the footwells of the car.

It could have been so much worse. It was only by chance we went in Steves car.. we were going to go in my car, a little convertable, had we have done, it would have covered the roof - steve has a people carrier so much taller than mine.

When we left, other people who refused to wade in and get stuck in saw their cars covered almost to the roof with water.

To top it all off... this was all during a big thunder storm

Home now, showered, scrubbed and ready for bed.

Wow thats really bad. Did the car work alriht to get you both home?

Give me your rain! I've been listening to phone in radio shows all night while I make hats and people keep saying there are big storms all over London including areas just down the road from me. All there is here are light showers and it's boiling. I want a big storm to cool the air. It's too hot to even bother trying to sleep.

oh wow! Glad it wasn't TOO bad.

There were storms down here last night. Hopefully it won't be as humid now.

Wow Deb, that's shocking! We had storms here but no flooding. Hope the car dries out ok

Puts the fact that our car has just failed its MOT due to a worn windscreen wiper blade into perspective!

Two days on... the car has been valeted, all seats removed, carpets removed etc..

We have about 5 air freshners in situ, windows open etc.. to try and dry out the last bits.

These things come to try us huh!
