I think a lot of the bile that these morons spew stems from insecurity..."I wish I could be more like you but I haven't got the balls, so I'll hurl abuse at you instead!" I agree, Michelle, that they're scared of anything that's different and takes them out of their comfort zones. I used to let other people's comments get to me until I realised I really couldn't be bothered with worrying about the opinions of small-minded :censored:... rant over!

I am a natural ginge too and very proud of it (although through frequent hair dying about 8 years ago it has never gone back to it's former glory, so now I just dye it various shades of ginger/red).

I did get a lot of stick at school for being a red head but I have found that as I have gotten older pretty much every guy I have met have loved ginger girls. I think the people at your work are just annoyed that they can't have you and so have resorted to the behaviour of 12 year olds and are picking on you to hide it! Bloody idiots!!

Did anyone ever see that special version of the "Weakest Link?" It was during some particular Elvis event, and the producers had cobbled together a load of Elvis lookalikes & wannabees. One guy had red to gingerish hair, and Anne Robinson, in her cutting, curt style, asked if his hair was natural, implying that he may have tried to dye out the ginger, maybe because that is her natural colour and she might have felt, well incensed that he could be ashamed, I don't know.
"Yes Ma'am," he said, "The carpet matches the drapes!"
First time I have ever seen Anne Robinson lose it.

Haha I love the way they do that! When I went through my Goth stage I used to get "Oi! You goth!". I used to say "Yes I'm fully aware of that. What's your point?" It, unbeliveably, used to leave them speechless. You'd think with a ridiculous insult like that they would be prepared.

It's like seeing a man and going "Oi! You F-ing man!"

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the anti-ginger/auburn attitude in this country comes from ginger hair being a predominately Viking trait (Viking invasion not so popular going way back!). I agree that it is a different attitude in the States where ginger hair is (rightly) revered.
I love my hair colour and pale skin - my mum was once offered three camels for me in Kenya on a family holiday (a fact I never let my blonde sister forget!)!!

I have have spent hundreds and hundreds of pounds, over the years, on dying my hair ginger. not red, GINGER! Hairdressers used to think i was mad when I asked for ginger and would always try to steer me towards 'auburn' but if it weren't for the upkeep and expense, i would have it ginger now. I suits me much better than my natural mousey brown and it really lifts my face and features.
I can't believe that people still think it's acceptable to make fun of someone because of their hair colour.
Would these same people make fun of someone because of their size, sexuality or ethnicity? I think not.
