Burlesque Book Club - what are you reading?
I just LOVE reading but sadly don't get enough time to read as much as I'd like.
I've just finished a FABULOUS book 'Beautiful People' by Simon Doonan which I have thoroughly enjoyed. It is his memoirs from growing up until his success as a top US based Window Dresser. Deliciously camp, funny and moving I would recommend this book to anyone. I believe it is about to be screened as a series on BBC2 but with a present day context and with names changed - horrors!! Read the book instead.
I have also recently read 2 memoirs by Stuart Maconie 'Pies and Prejudice - in search of the North' and 'Cider with Roadies' about his growing up and becoming a respected NME journalist - again, hilarious.
Which got me wondering, what are YOU reading at the moment and what would your reading recommendations be? I like to get suggestions from others as to what to read next and it's interesting finding out what people are reading now.
Look forward to hearing from you
kisses

I've just finished Pigtopia by Kitty Fitzgerald. It was okay but annoyed me in places (and I can't quite work out why either...)
Just rejoined the library and very glad I did

My brilliant beau, and hubby, brought me Dita's book back from a business trip.
Isn't that sweet?
Don't want to come all culture vulture on you, but I am just finishing Shakespeare's:
"The Tempest!" I read it as one of my plays, for A level, but a note from Tempest Devyne about the witch Sycorax prompted me to reread the play. I love it!
Thanks Tempest.

Everyone should read "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck!
I am reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkin. I've been doing so for about 3 minths now. It is so tedious! But I'm halfway through it so can't give up now!
After that I am embarking on my life challenge to read all 1001 Books To Read Before You Die. If you google it, there is a list of them somewhere. I have already read 13 of them. Only 988 to go...Snowflakes and Sparkles

Need to get round to reading how to loose friends and alienate people.
It's one of those recomended reads i haven't managed yet but would like to do as it's now been made into a film, and very few films live upto anything like the book.
Also re reading - Tis Pitty She's a whore. ( book pictured )

I love The Tempest! Have you ever seen the film Forbidden Planet? It's a '50s sci-fi remake of The Tempest - it's well good.
I'm currently reading Trollius and Cressida for my MA course, but other than that I'm trying to plod through Gravity's Rainbow by Pynchon - i love it but it takes tiiiiime. I'm also in a constant process of reading and re-reading Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway which is my favouritest book ever ever and never stops giving me goose bumps. I wish I could just stay at home all day and read and read and read...

The WORST book I have ever read is one I had to read when going into the Ministry, it was, "St Paul The Traveler and the Roman Citizen". Talk about ssssssssllllllllooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww and tedious!
