Stuck!
It's finally happened - I can't get out of my own house >_<
Since all that rain a while ago, our front door seems to have expanded and swelled and keeps sticking in the frame. We've told our landlady but there's nothing she can do - apparently the same thing happened a few years ago so they planed the door, and if they take any more off, when it shrinks again it'll let water in.
So for the past few weeks I've been missing buses which stop practically outside my door because I can't get the door open - and I'm trying to open the door early, I learned after the first one! If I'm outside it's OK, because I can put my full weight behind it and bump it open with my hip. But inside I have to pull the door open and it's getting harder and harder - until today, when I can't open it at all. I'm a prisoner in my own damn house! I'm reliant on someone else opening a door for me! Which means I can't get to the post office and pick up the parcel that's waiting for me. It also means I can't get to the gym to the class I wanted to go to this afternoon. I'm angry and I need to rant!WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

The Landlady has to be able to do something. Surely that's a safety hazard? I'd speak to her again and if she still doesn't do anything speak to whoever the authorities may be. Would a new door help?
I know how annoying it can be though, I had the same problem a little while ago. I'd ordered pizza and when the man came to the door it wouldn't open. I had to get him to fight through the bush in the garden and pass it through the living room window. He wasn't best pleased.Snowflakes and Sparkles

That sucks BIG TIME!!! Is there no other way out? Like a back door or low level window?(although Im quite sure you've already thought of all possibilities )
Im stuck in the house too so you can rant away if you like!
BTW it was lovely to finally meet you on Sat, even though I was abit scared...
ops:
Had been crying my eyes out and met a completely random sweet guy who bought my tickets

Apparently our estate agent has offered to come round and let me out!
The OH is going to get onto them and see if we can get a new door or a new lock. It's absolutely ridiculous - but at least it means I have to stay in and bead my costume ...
Indeed, the back door leads to an enclosed garden, so i'd be just as stuck there, and our windows are the type that open right at the top and nowhere else ...

Same to you my love - I hope your evening wasn't too much of a waste!
Did you manage to get to Hot Muffins the next night?
It went well, ta! ^_^

Hmm...those windows that open at the top are no use! Although Ive had to use one to open a side window before but thats an entirely different story lol (my mum forgot her keys, I wasnt breaking and entering someone elses house lol)
It wasnt a waste, got to meet several lovely people
Yup, went to Hot Muffins-I told my mum I was with Honey and December getting food and chatting :worried: which was true...I HATE lying.
You still stuck??

Thats pretty impressive!! Considering the time Id to do it I would have been young and small and found it difficult
It involved half climbing in through the partially open top window, unlocking and opening the side window and climbing in through it to get into the house and open the back door....HOW on EARTH did Mr C manage? Im well impressed

Oh fleur, that partly sucks and partly doesn't - have you SEEN the weather, why would you want to leave the house?!?! heehee.
That is a safety hazard, what if there was a fire? Jeez - we have a plastic and metal door (It looks like wood!) coz the same thing happened to ours years and years ago. And the flat I used to have in Liverpool had a wooden door which was really sticky - it swelled in too much heat and too much rain!

Apparantly he was really really skinny at the time. And he managed to climb up the wall with the help of the neighbours fence, window ledges and things.
I once had to climb through the bathroom window as a child when we got locked out. I'd have NO chance of doing that now!Snowflakes and Sparkles
