I got my DVD from Club Noir last week and finally plucked up the courage to watch the recording of my beginner's workshop in September.

Feck, feck, feck and feck again. And feck again. :cry: :cry:

As we say up here - there's not a pound of me hanging the right way ops: ...... Thank god I had black underwear on because if I had on anything lighter, I might have been harpooned and dragged off to the Faroes by a passing whaler.

Don't get me wrong - I had a great time and met some great gals - but oh, the disappointment to find that I *really* don't look like I could do this on even an infrequent basis.

oh feck.

I really enjoy coming to the MoB forum, but now I'm just relegated to the status of wannabe, which is sooooo disappointing (just speaking for myself!)

I need a hug. :help:

Don't be too hard on yourself - we are always our own worst critics!!! I'm sure no-one else would think the same at all and thought that you looked great. If we leave it all to those with perfect figures thenwe are just setting ourselves up for disappointment.

Be proud of yourself for doing it in the first place as most wouldn't have the guts. Find some clothing / underwear that you feel comfortable in and flatters YOUR figure and GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone has to start somewhere and if we were all perfect from the start there would be nothing to aim for. Be proud of the gorgeous creature that you un-doubtedly are, stick 2 fingers up to the world and keep trying - LIVE THE DREAM!!!!!

I bet you any money what you think you're seeing on the screen isn't really what's on the screen.

Are you having a bit of a down day? Did you watch when energy levels were low?

I bet you any money, it's no way as bad as you've decided it is.

You should be massively proud of yourself doing it. And I don't want you to do anything silly like throw the dvd away.

This is your first attempt after a day's course. This is a MASSIVE first step on which to move on from. Give it day or two, watch it again and decide if there are things you can do better - and make an action plan.

It takes massive guts to go to a course at all and even more to stand up and perform, even if it is in front of other supportive class mates.

This is not the end if you want to do this!!!

You know I'm going to tell you there are performers way bigger than you (and I know coz I've seen the corset and the socks ) out there shaking their wobbly bits and people watching them thinking they are damn sexy. And you know I'm also going to tell you it's all about believing in yourself and inner confidence. Confidence is the sexiest thing on the planet.....no matter whether you are big or small, able bodied or disabled, black, white etc etc

And you never know - there could be a fab act there in the making! - Emerald Ace is an octopus, Anna Fur Laxis has memories of a goldfish complete with hook in her head....but your usp could be being a harpooned whale.......you are free to throw things at me now, but I'm running away very fast :duck:

You are a gorgeous woman, you have a gorgeous figure and there are loads of people out there who ADORE wobbly bits - don't give up hope yet, try to love yourself as we have grown to love you :hug::hug:

You're all totally lovely and I'm glad that I came back to MoB to look for a virtual cuddle. Was just going to disappear quietly into the sunset because I felt so rotten.

But I've watched it again and while I was still watching it through clenched fingers, I can see that it's not so hideous. It's not good, but I didn't truly expect it to be good.

Why are we so hard on ourselves? It was just a fun day, not designed to turn us into professionals LOL! I suppose it's just that thing that kicks in when you see photos of yourself and realise that you really ARE closer to 50 than to 40 while, inside your head, you are forever 21.....

I'll try to load it up to myspace or something, not because I think it's great, but just in case watching me fannying around and making a total tit of myself might help push someone into having a go themselves.

aww honey! *hugs* :hug: first of all you should be so proud of yourself for actually having the courage to go to a workshop, i'd most people just sit around going "one day i will go to a class...." but, how many of them actually will do it?

im sure that you didn't look the way you think you did, im sure you are a very beautiful lady.

don't let this put you off burly or going to other classes, anyway you can't because you're coming to the class i pm'd you about whether you like it or not so

OK - so let hubby watch the DVD while I sat and squirmed with embarassment on the sofa. I did giggle a lot though too.

He watched my three minutes of 'fame' and said 'I can't believe you DID that. You took your clothes off in front of people.'

He's a bit non-plussed by the whole thing. Which is very annoying because he's an engineer in the merchant navy and had more than his fair share of oggling women who take their clothes off for a living.

Seems it's different when it's the mother of your child though....

Talk about double standards!

Anyhoo, I'm off to book Gypsy's Glasgow workshop and to hell with hubby. :cooler:
