James Bond
' James Bond is passe and has no place in the 21st century' (Going to pub quiz will look at the best answer and award a Vodka martini shaken but not stirred!)

Hmmm....the idea of an exaggerated almost comical womanising male character is passe, but the entertainment value of the film franchise still has valididity.
Where else would you get such value for money mindless action, kick ass fighting, high octane car/boat chases, gadgetry, or women with innuendo based names?

I love the Bond films (apart from the Timothy Dalton ones) as I was brought up on them and it was a case of put up or shut up! Perhaps if I analysed them (which I am prone to doing with other films) I would be offended but I tend to just take them as tongue in cheek and enjoy them at face value. So looking forward to seeing the new one!

Blimey! do I get 6 weeks and 5,000 words?
I think my first answer would be, 'Daniel Craig, in those trunks, can have any place he likes!'
Despite everything, the more recent films have had some really gutsy female leads. No other film franchise brought you Halle Berry in combats and boots (and very good she looked in them too.). Vesper was most definitely the brains of the outfit. As is the ever-present Moneypenny.
And come on! Judi Dench just has to be the best M ever, though?

I have to admit that I quite like a bond movie (maybe it's a holdover from when I was growing up and Christmas wasn't Christmas without the traditional Christmas Day Bond movie!) Having said that I do tend to enjoy them more for their "leave the brain at the door" way that I can enjoy any other action movie

Pierce Brosnan will always be my favourite - Goldeneye was great! Not only was one of the Bond Girls Polish (as is my entire family), but it ALSO had Sean Bean (grin)! Yeah, the plot was fun as well, but that was only vaguely important.
