Lurgie Rollcall!
Right you lot, call off your names if you've had the lurgie yet this winter!

(Not that I'm sitting feeling sorry for myself or anything....
ops: )
And if you have had it, other than growing yourself a new body, what's your best folk remedy? The more bizare the better! If it involves frogs, mustard and skipping for an hour and a half, I want to know about it!!! :eyebrows:WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

oooo I got the lurgie bad, spent last night trying to sleep bolt upright as its gone straight to my chest..cough cough cough...its the only position I could nod off in, and now I have a stiff neck...I wouldn't recommend licking frogs :yuk: but taking plenty of hot drinks preferably with lots of vitim C and paracetamol now I'm going to suffer in silence

Cold "Cures"?
Hmmmmmmmm, as there is no "Cold Cure" as yet we have to rely on the tried and tested "help the symptoms"...................For a cold cough, my mummy reckons on a ball of butter with suger in it to ease the throat. To help one sleep mummy dearest reckons on a hot whiskey and suger toddy...............Personally I have found that a good ounce of hot WindJammer Rum does the trick much better

As a Witch I suppose I should be answering with potions using eye of newt and frogs balls or lizard tongues and dragon pus..............Unfortunatly I live in the real world and know these things do not exist.
Let me invent a poem for you all instead.
"THE CLOD"
Hubble Bubble, my heads in a fuddle
Hacking cough and throat ache double.
Streaming eyes and sore of bone.
Muscles screaming "LEAVE ME ALONE!".
Away to bed wrapped up in flannel
Ohhhh mechanic below me
Stop beating that panel!
My bottles gone cold
My feet are like ice
Oh PLEASE, just one Burlesquer
Say something nice.
Presents to wrap
The tree to dig out
The baubles and lights to dangle about.
Sod it, I am going to sleep till MARCH!

Had a bizarre one that you witnessed the start of last Thursday at the Pan......
...went straight home to bed and woke up to even more aches on the Friday morning. My back was sore along with my ribs, fingers, feet, thighs etc etc. Then a little later on my head joined in and I was freezing just as I had been on Thursday night. I did however battle through (how brave!) despite not eating more that a few crumbs. After a good sleep on Friday night, having awoken in the early hours in almost a pool of sweat, I felt 100 times better. Sunday morning saw another improvement and I'm feeling pretty good again.
Sweat it out is my advice dear sir.
Smouldering like the charred remnants of the British Economy.....

I have had a very brief cold...usually they drag on so i'm happy! I recommend two little sudafeds (or tesco cold relief capsuals) just before bed and a carvol either dripped on your pyjamas or in a bowl of hot water in your room. Also Kleenex Balsam tissues so your nose doesn't go red and crusty (because that's not attractive!) and plenty of vaseline on your nose at bedtime too, or happynose.

I've got it at the moment, not been out of house since sunday.
I feel so ill, really chesty cough and very snotty nose, also feel quite light headed.
I do feel quite sorry for myself.

You've found a great name there! Just imagine......
"Ladies & Gentlemen, please welcome on stage, the wonderful Ms Chesty Cough!!!"
.... or maybe not.
ops:
Hope you're feeling better soon. I've got the "don't want to breathe or laugh or cough, 'cause my stomach muscles ache so much" symptom at the moment.
I swear, the CEO of Lemsip must have bought a Porsche with all the money they've got outta me and Lilly over the last couple of months!
