    Default Arrrgghhh!

    Help!

So, its coming up to Christmas and I want to wear loads of slinky dresses and corsets. But, I have a stomach problem (still unsure what, most likely a damaged stomach lining), which means, among other things, I get really bloated. Add this to the fact I've lost half a stone in as few days due to not being able to eat anything (only allowed white, mushy, bland stuff), and I look 10 months pregnant . Any tips to reduce bloating? Gaviscon and Rennies are my best friends at the mo!

This might sound weird but drink lots and lots of water...if you're dehydrated then you retain water making you bloat - as soon as you are fully hydrated your body releases the water it retains, reducing the bloating...

I think you really need to drink the 8 glasses or so for this to work, but it's a weight watchers tip someone once told me...the more water, the more weight loss (in water)...

    Hope it helps

    xx

Normally the tablets for water retention are very good - but obviously I wouldn't recommend you taking anything without doctors blessing if the stomach lining is damaged.
Oh and stop drinking any Alcohol too.
Sounds weird but try some yoga, body brushing and hula hooping - my friend has something similar to you and when it's bad looks like she's about to give birth any second. But she swears by them when it gets really bad.

you could always get some of that body-shaping underwear? i don't suppose it looks very comfortable, but i've never worn it so i wouldn't know. apparently they work wonders though - for a quick fix.

I too find drinking lots and lots of water helps with easing the bloat! On a bad day I get extremely bloated and feel generally awful and sluggish etc and on a good day my tummy looks...well...not bad and quite trim (not flat but then tummies arent meant to be flat r they?). The common factor in this is the amount of water i drink...the bad days i realise I may not have had a single glass, the good days ive usually done my litre bottle about 3 or 4 times!!!!

I also hear that the hold you in undies are fab, havent tried them...yet...only because i think id feel muffled up!!! But if i was to be going anywhere special this festive season i may well give them a go.

    Good luck hun x

No idea on the anti-bloating aside from the usual, and if you're eating pap, then I assume you're steering clear of processed food and bread (all that yeast, not good). But if you're on a lot of antacids, you might find ranitidine useful too. (Branded as Zantac, although most chemists do a more reasonably-priced generic). I don't leave home without them!.

I have similar problems as I have crohn's and candida which means I can go huge in seconds with teh wrong food.

Wheat and dairy (except yoghurt) can be a problem and cause it, so leave out those and if your lining is damaged then maybe take a course of good bacteria, there's also an amino acid called glutamine which may help repair it and maybe colostrum as well GutDoctor, promoting the health of your stomach and all points 'south'... for lots of info and products for gut problems

Thanks so much for all of the replies I've looked at some yoga positions online and am searching for classes - I used to go after work, we had free sessions, but since I've been off sick I've missed them. I've also switched from drinking so much milk to drinking more water, and have noted down Zantac, glutamine and colustum as well so I can double check they're ok with the medication I'm on. Have managed to get an emergency appoinment tomorrow, and have finally heard back from the hospital that I should have an appointment before Christmas! Fingers crossed I'll be eating mince pies soon and, if not, theres always the hold-it-in knickers (by the way, theyre surprisingly comfy! And the tights with built in tummy control from Marks are great too!) It's also nice to know that other people have ways of dealing with it, its making me so grumpy at the mo seeing the housemates eating curry and going out!

    Thanks again,
